Monitoring and Evaluation of Spatial and Temporal Variation of Desertification in Changji Prefecture Based on Vegetation Index
The dynamic change of desertification in Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang was taken as the re-search object.Based on the NDVI data, the dynamic change of vegetation and the annual change of vegetation coverage were evaluated by dynamic change of desertification. The results showed as the following four aspects.(1)The vegetation index in Changji Prefecture showed an increasing trend from 2000 to 2019.And the area of low-cover vegetation was the largest,ac-counting for 45.09%on average. The area proportion of medium cover vegetation and high cover vegetation were 20.70%and 22.69%,respectively.The vegetation area with high coverage rate accounted for 11.13%.The average proportion of non-vegetation area was the smallest, which was 0.39%.(2)The area of mild desert area in Changji Prefecture decreased gradually, while the area of moderate desertification area fluctuated less, and the annual change trend was not obvious. The area of non-desertification area fluctuated greatly and the annual change showed an increasing trend.(3)From 2000 to 2019,as a whole, there was a shift from moderate desertification to mild desertification, and mild desertification to non-de-sertification.(4)From 2010 to 2015,the areas of severe desertification increased significantly, mainly in Jimusar County,Qi-tai County, and the northern plain area of Mulei Kazakh Autonomous County. From the perspective of location and time, the main reason was the construction and development of Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone in Xinjiang since 2010.After 2015,with the effective implementation of desertification control measures, the area of severe desertifica-tion showed a decreasing trend.
