The Influence of Different Substrate Recipes on the Growth of Schima superba Container Seedlings
Eleven substrate recipes were prepared according to different volume ratios to study their physical and chemical properties of different substrate recipes and their effects on the growth of Schima superba container seed-lings.The effects of different substrate recipes on the cultivation of Schima superba container seedlings were com-prehensively evaluated, and the best substrate recipes suitable for Schima superba container seedlings were selected. The results indicated that the bulk density of eleven kinds of substrate recipes was less than 0.50 g·cm-3 and all of them were light substrates. The total porosity of recipe 5,6,7,8 and 9 exceeded 60%,and the total porosity of recipe 10 was less than 40%.Recipe 4 had the highest organic matter content, and the nutrient content of each sub-strate recipes was also different.Recipe 4,6 and 8 had the highest total nitrogen content, total phosphorus content and total potassium content, respectively. With the progress of cultivation, the differentiation degree of height, ground diameter and height-diameter ratio of Schima superba seedlings with different substrate recipes gradually in-creased,showing the effect of increasing substrate recipes on the growth of container seedlings. The results of com-prehensive evaluation showed that recipe 9(bark∶husk∶perlite=5∶2.5∶2.5)was the most suitable substrate rec-ipe for the growth of Schima superba container seedlings. The use of bark and husk instead of peat has a good seed-ling effect and lower cost, providing an economical and sustainable seedling scheme for forestry production.
