Research Progress on the Detection Technology and Chemical Constituents of Areca Catechu
Areca catechu has a long history of medication,and peoples in many places of China also have the habit of chew-ing it.However,chewing areca catechu in large quantities for a long time will lead to oral mucosal fibrosis,oral cancer and other diseases.Relevant regulations have issued to ban the sale of areca catechu in many places.Based on the summary of physical and chemical properties,toxicity and toxicology of the main constituents of areca catechu,the research progress of samples treatments and detection technology of chemical constituents in areca catechu in this paper were discussed in de-tails aiming to provide technical support for the supervision and control of areca catechu and corresponded products market,and provide scientific and theoretical basis for the trace evidences identification of relevant cases.
