Determination of 10 Heavy Metal Elements in Soil by XRF and PXRF
Heavy metals Cu,Cr,Pb,Zn,Ni,As,Co,V,Mn and Ti in soil was detectedusing X-ray fluorescence spectrometer(XRF)and portable X-ray fluorescence analyzer(PXRF)in this work, respectively. The results obtained using XRF tech-nique showed that the good linear ranges with r=0.999 0-0.999 9.The detection limits for the 10 heavy metal elements were 0.8 mg/kg-5.5 mg/kg,and the relative standard deviation was less than 2%obtained by XRF and less than 10%by PXRF.The tests showed that the PXRF analyzer could be used for determining Cu,Pb and Ti in the soil qualitatively and quantitatively, and for a semi-quantitative and qualitative analysis on Cr,Zn,Ni,As,Co,V and Mn.The XRF-technology,simplifying the analysis of soil samples, solving the problems found in traditional detection method such as such as,long time consuming, complex pretreatment process, and secondary pollution to environment caused by the strong acid use, could be used for rapid assessment of the metal contamination in soil, with significant advantages.
