Exploring Urban Design Strategies Based on the Concept of"Plug-ins"——A Case Study of Old City Renewal in Tongan District,Xiamen
This article attempts to explore an urban renewal design concept—the"plug-in"strategy—that aims to address the challenges of transformation from rapid growth to high-quality development in Chinese cities.Combining the case of the old city renewal competition in Tong'an District,Xiamen and the analysis of relevant historical theories,this article discusses the formation of the"plug-in"concept,design methods and staged design results.Particular emphasis was placed on how the"plug-in"strategy can effectively improve urban space functions and enhance community vitality on the basis of maintaining the city's historical context,and tried to explore new paths and strategies for urban renewal.
