Research on Water-based Intumescent Fireproof Coatings for Steel Structures Modified by Pyrophyllite Tailings
Using pyrophyllite tailings powder as flame retardant filler, ammonium polyphosphate-pentaerythritol-melamine as flame retard-ant expansion system, and VAE emulsion as film-forming material, the effects of pyrophyllite tailings powder and flame retardant expansion system on the properties of fire retardant coatings were analyzed by orthogonal test of four factors and four levels. The results showed that the dosage of pyrophyllite tailings powder and flame retardant expansion system had a significant effect on the fire resistance, bond strength and water resistance of the coating by the efficacy coefficient method and the single factor equilibrium method.Among them, the dosage of MEL and pyrophyllite tailings powder had the most significant effect. The optimal formula combination was determined as A4B4C1D3,that is,25 parts of ammonium polyphosphate(APP),10 parts of MEL,7 parts of pentaerythritol(PER),4 parts of pyrophyllite tailings powder, and the comprehensive performance of the fire retardant coating was the best. The optimum ratio is A3B2C4D3,that is,when the amount of am-monium polyphosphate(APP)is 24 phr,the amount of melamine(MEL)is 8 phr,the amount of pentaerythritol(PER)is 10 phr,and the amount of pyrophyllite tailings powder is 4 phr,the fire resistance of the fire retardant coating is the best.
