Growth effect of Eucalyptus grandis×Eucalyptus urophylla on coastal sands
The growth, afforestation effect and wind resistance of Eucalyptus grandis× Eucalyptus urophylla in coastal sands were analyzed. The results showed that with fast-growing property and great wind resistance, E. grandis × E. urophylla could adapt to arid and poor coastal sands condition. Its early fast growing characteristics could be applied to reforestation of coastal protection forest to achieve the results of fast growing into forest and less exposure of forest land. Furthermore, E. grandis × E. urophylla was sensitive to coastal sands condition, bearing obvious difference in stand growth among different sands. The main reasons why it had greater wind resistance on coastal sands were the perfect diameter-height ratio, the impact of strong wind around the year and its deep root.
