Effects of diameter and height of stump on sprout regeneration of Cunninghamia lanceolata
Random sampling method was used to investigate the conditions of the sprout regeneration in a clear-cutting site of Cunninghamia lanceolata plantation in Jiangle County. The results showed that diameter and height of stumps significantly affected the amount of sprouting saplings, but did not influence the length and diameter of sprouting saplings. As to the diameter of stumps, the sprout number, length and diameter of medium diameter (10 - 30 cm) stumps were all greater. And sprout diameter of the second largest diameter (30 -40 cm) stumps was the most largest, but sprout number and length of which were smaller. Sprout number, length and diameter of the smallest diameter (0 -10 cm) and the largest diameter (40-50 cm) stumps were not ideal. As to the height of stumps, sprout number, length and diameter of the low height (0-5 cm) stumps were the largest.
