Studies on fire resistance of middling size of Cupressus torulosa
Fire resistance experimentations of middling size Cupressus torulosa stem were tested under different temperature and time with experimental equipment designed by the authors during the highly dangerous period of forest fire. The mortality rate of stem phloem was calculated with a program developed by the authors use Visual Basic 6.0 software after the phloem of samples were soaked with 4% 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) solutions, painted and scanned the distribution map of mortal and living phloem, purified the map color with Photoshop software. The mortality model of phloem was established and the correlation factors of the model included the diameter of stem, temperature, heating time and the mortality rate. The results showed that the main factors that influenced the fire resistance of C. torulosa stem were arranged in order of heating time, temperature, diameter of stem. According to the fire resistance of C. torulosa stems we commend the forest fire protection measures respectively.
