Germination and storage characteristics of Cassia javanica subsp.nodosa
To improve and optimize the method for seeds germination and storage of Cassia javanica subsp.nodosa, further to extend the storage life and provide the theory basis for the development and utilization, C.javanica subsp.nodosa seeds were used as material, orthogonal experiment and single factor contrast were conducted. In climate cabinet, seeds were put in damp towels in trays to observe the performance of seed germination.Dry seeds were kept at 25, 4, and-26 ℃ to investigate the storage characteristics. Results showed that the optimum method for germination was dipping seeds in concentrated sulphuric acid for 30 min, and then washing the seeds with running water, after that treating seeds in boiling bath and allowing them cool to 25 ℃, and soaking them in that constant temperature bath for 24 hours. After the treatment, the germination rate reached up to 100% and the germination viability was approximately 76%.Besides, the best method for storage was keeping dry seeds at-26 ℃ in low moisture environment, in which the germination rate was still up to 72.23% after 180 days storage.
