Analysis of αdiversity and the related environmental factors of natural Toona ciliata communities in Jianshi
A systematic survey and samples were conducted of 4 natural Toona ciliata Roem. communities in Jianshi region, Hubei Pronvince, to researchαdiversity dynamics of arbor, shrub and herb layer and the relationships amomg α diversity, topography and soil physical factors. The Margalef richness index, Shannon index, Simpson dominance index and Pielou evenness index of the 4 T. ciliata communities demonstrated approximate tendency:herb>arbor>shrub. In the T3 community, 4αdiversity indices of all shrub layer were the lowest value which may relate to the exposure coefficient, canopy density, and the diversity index of arbor and herb. The canonical correlation analyses of Shannon index, topography coefficient and soil physical factors revealed that the soil moisture content and capillary porosity had positive correlations with the Shannon index of arbor, but negative with that of herb;the gradient coefficient had a positive correlation with the volume weight of soil, and meanwhile, a negative with the soil water content and the Shannon index of arbor;the slope exposure coefficient correlated negatively with the volume weight of soil;plant positions on slopes had insignificant correlations with other factors, but the Shannon index of arbor correlated negatively with those of shrubs and herb. The conclusion can be inducted that the soil physical factors, topogrphy factors and Shannon index of the 4 natural T. ciliata commmunities exhibited high correlations and profound interactions between each other. Light, as a resource, had a sutble effect upon soil nutrients and various layers′αdiversity indices of the 4 T. ciliata communities through the change of topograpohy.
