Influence of formulated composition of matrix on growth and seedling survival rate of Schima superba seedlings
Schima superba is one of important tree species for timber forest in China, and the quantity demanded of its seedlings increases yearly. This study explored the influence of different formulated compositions of matrix in growth and physiology and biochemistry of S.superba container seedlings, and selected the optimal formulated compositions of matrix which were beneficial to growth of S.superba container seedlings. For the S.superba container seedlings research, the peat soil, perlite, local rice husk and sawdust were selected to be mixed into 15 formulated compositions of matrix, with biodegradable nonwoven [40 mm(φ) × 100 mm] as the container.By mensurating seedling survival, seedling height, ground diameter, biomass, photosynthetic parameters, root activity and N,P content index of S.superba container seedlings, the research studied the physicochemical properties of different formulated compositions of matrix, and their influence on seedling survival rate and growth and development of S.superba container seedlings. The results showed that the different formulated compositions of matrix significantly affected the growth and physiological property. The total fresh weight and quality index number of A treatment was significantly superior to that of other treatments, while the biomass and quality index number of L treatment was inferior to that of other treatments. The Pn and Gs of O matrix were better than others, but the Pn,Gs and WUE of C treatment were opposite, which indicated that the lower photosynthetic parameter resulted in weak growth of container seedings. The formulated composition of matrix ratio had an significant influence on growth and development of S.superba container seedlings. And different formulated compositions of matrix ratio had different influence on seedling survival rate and growth of S.superba container seedlings. The matrix A and O are better light-medium than the other ones, thus having important significance on the growth cultivation of S.superba container seedling.
