Meta-Analysis of the Impact of Physical Exercise on the Resting Heart Rate of the Elderly
The resting heart rate(RHR)is positively correlated with mortality, and regular exercise can reduce the resting heart rate. This study evaluates the impact of regular exercise on resting heart rate in healthy elderly in-dividuals by systematically evaluating different types of physical activity.Method:A systematic literature study was conducted in six databases, and literature on randomized controlled trials related to physical exercise intervention in elderly healthy individuals was retrieved from the database establishment until December 30,2022.Select the liter-ature that meets the inclusion criteria and ultimately include 21 articles.Use RevMan5.4 software for meta-analy-sis.Result:Meta analysis showed that after regular and regular endurance training, the resting heart rate of elderly people improved significantly(SMD=-0.73,95%CI[-0.97,-0.48],P<0.001),reaching a small effect amount;A certain load of strength training has a certain effect on reducing the resting heart rate of elderly people(SMD=-0.73,95%CI[-0.97,-0.48],P<0.001),reaching a moderate equivalent stress;Yoga training and Tai Chi training have no significant effect on improving resting heart rate in the elderly, with combined effects of(SMD=-2.91,95%CI[-0.30,-0.03],P=0.01)and(SMD=-0.28,95%CI[-0.48,-0.09],P=0.004),achieving large and small effects. Conclusion:Endurance training and strength training can signifi-cantly reduce the resting heart rate of elderly people, which may help reduce the all-cause mortality rate caused by regular exercise. However, the effects of Tai Chi training and yoga training are not significant; The impact of gender differences in exercise intensity, exercise cycle, and exercise form of different types of sports on the resting heart rate of elderly people requires in-depth research and exploration.
