Cross-Lagged Analysis of Physical Activity,Negative Self-Imagery,and Blood Donation Anxiety Among College Students
Objective:Exploring the longitudinal predictive relationship between physical activity, negative self-imagery,and blood donation anxiety among college students. Methods:From March to September 2023,3960 col-lege students from eight universities in Jiangxi Province were followed up for 6 months and analyzed with cross-lagged analyses using the Physical Activity Participation Scale, the Hamilton Anxiety Scale, and the Negative Self-Imagery Scale.Results:(1)Physical exercise F1 was able to play a significant negative predictive role for nega-tive self-imagery F2(β=-0.16,P<0.001),but negative self-imagery F1 was unable to play a predictive role for physical exercise F2(β=-0.04,P>0.05).(2)Negative auto-imagery F1 was able to play a sig-nificant positive predictive role for blood donation anxiety F2(β=0.14,P<0.001),but blood donation anxie-ty F1 was unable to play a predictive role for negative auto-imagery F2(β=0.06,P>0.05).(3)Physical exercise F1 could not play a predictive role for blood donation anxiety F2(β=-0.03,P>0.05),and blood donation anxiety F1 could not play a predictive role for physical exercise F2(β=-0.05,P>0.05).(4)Negative self-imagery had a fully mediating effect across time between physical activity and blood donation anxiety(β=-0.18,P<0.001,β=-0.20,P<0.001).Conclusion:Promoting physical activity among college students can alleviate negative self-imagery,which in turn reduces blood donation anxiety.
