An Empirical Study on the Impact of TPSR Sports Courses on College Students'Social and Emotional Competence
This study, based on a localized framework of social and emotional competence(SEC),examines the effect of high-fidelity Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility(TPSR)sports education on university students'SEC.Through the implementation of a 12-week TPSR basketball course and interviews with 16 university students, the study found that students showed improvement in all six dimensions of SEC(self-awareness,self-management,awareness of others, management of others, collective awareness, and collective management). The results validate the appropriateness of the TPSR model in relation to the SEC structure and have significant educa-tional implications.Since this study only validates the effectiveness of TPSR within the localized framework, future research could further explore its additional effects and underlying mechanisms using a mixed-methods approach.Additionally, the research could be extended to primary and secondary school settings to provide reference for the development of SEC in students at different educational stages.
