Power Extraction,Institutional Disorder,and the Political Decay of the DPP Administration
Political decay is one of the results of political change,providing an explanatory orientation for the turmoil,disorder and instability in the modernization process.Generally speaking,power and system are the typical paths for analyzing political decay.Analyzing the political practice of the Democratic Progressive Party(DPP)authorities by integrating the two variables of power and system,it is found that there is an inevitability for the DPP authorities to move towards political decay.Throughout the current process of political change on the island,on the one hand,the DPP authorities have striven to pursue the ruling power by seizing political resources without restraint,artificially weakening the public's political participation,and exacerbating vicious competition with the opposition parties;on the other hand,they have wantonly changed the rules of the political game,leading to the multiple disorders in the systems of participation,governance,and communication in Taiwan,which have triggered the island's electoral chaos,democratic disorder,and the continuous tension in cross-Strait relations.As the root of political change,power structure and system form make the process of political decay difficult to change.
