Strategic Ambiguity or Strategic Clarity:Study on the Situation of U.S.Policy Adjustment towards Taiwan
"Strategic ambiguity"is a long-standing policy of the United States towards Taiwan, and its origin and content are much debated. With the intensification of strategic competition between China and the United States and the change of the situation across the Taiwan Strait, there is a debate in the United States about whether to continue to adhere to the policy of"strategic ambiguity"or to shift to"strategic clarity".At present, although the mainstream view still continues to pursue the policy of"strategic ambiguity",those who hold the views of"abandoning Taiwan","defending Taiwan"and"strategic two-way clarity"advocate that the U.S.policy toward Taiwan should shift to"strategic clarity".The U.S.policy toward Taiwan shows a trend of change from"strategic ambiguity"to"strategic clarity",doing"clarified"deeds in the name of"strategic ambiguity".In response to the policy adjustment of the United States in the Taiwan Strait region,China should maintain strategic focus and strategic flexibility to safeguard China's sovereignty, security and development interests.
