Distribution of ABO and Rh blood group among blood donors in Quanzhou
Objective Determining the distribution of ABO and Rh phenotypes among blood donors in Quanzhou and en-riching the rare phenotype database will allow us to ensure better management of blood stocks and good recruitment strategies for supplying Quanzhou with blood products. Methods The data of 190 195 blood donors in Quanzhou from 2018 to 2022 were collected to analyze the ABO and RhD blood group distribution characteristics, and the ABO blood group were performed Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium test;RhC,c,E and e antigen typing detections were performed on RhD-negative individuals from August 2022 to April 2024 to establish a rare phenotype database. Results O>A>B>AB and r>p>q in our blood donors were no-ticed.The differences between expected frequency and observed frequency were statistically significant which didn't accord with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium rules. The frequency of RhD-Negative in Han nationality blood donors was 0.44%.We found 6 phenotypes among 271 RhD negative blood donors:ccdee>Ccdee>CCdee>ccdEe>CcdEe>-dee;no CcdEE,ccdEE,CCdEE,CCdEe were detected, and no C(c)antigen was detected in 2 cases. The frequency of RhC,c,E,e antigens was e>c>C>E respectively. Conclusion The genetic rules of blood group can not truly reflect the blood group distribution of blood donors. The ABO and Rh blood group distribution characteristics of blood donors obtained in this study can be used to guide the development of blood procurement plans and accurate recruitment strategies for blood donors,so as to ensure the blood supply in our region.
