The leadership of the Communist Party of China(CPC)constitutes the most essential characteristics of the Chi-nese-style modernization.Utilizing the unique analytical paradigm of"Party-Society",it is discovered that coordinating the over-all national interests with local interests in rural areas,as well as harmonizing the national governmental authority with rural au-tonomy,forms the logical backbone of the CPC's advancement of modern rural governance.Guided by this logic,the CPC's macro strategic agenda for modernizing rural governance has undergone a transition from"revolution"to"integration","reform"and"revitalization",while corresponding micro-level governance approaches have evolved from mobilization-oriented model to control-oriented,responsive and collaborative models.Upholding the core leadership position of the CPC in rural governance,fully respecting the principal status of rural people,and persistently developing and perfecting the socialist rural governance sys-tem with Chinese characteristics in practice,constitute the core principles guiding the CPC's drive towards modernization of ru-ral governance in China.
