In order to investigate the healing characteristic of the cracks for hydraulic asphalt concrete, effects including the temperature changes and water environment, crack healing behavior of asphalt concrete and basalt fiber-reinforced as-phalt concrete were analyzed based on the beam bending tests.A crack healing coefficient was proposed to evaluate the degree of healing of the crack for asphalt concrete. The research results showed that an increase in temperature could im-prove the crack healing coefficient of asphalt concrete, reaching 85%at 40℃.However,due to the influence of the wa-ter environment, the crack healing coefficient decreased significantly with a value of 41%at 40℃.The bridging effect of short fibers between cracks could noticeably improve the healing performance of the crack for asphalt concrete, and adding basalt fibers could reduce the adverse effects of the long-term water environment on crack healing. The crack healing coefficient of basalt fiber-reinforced asphalt concrete was 92%at 40℃and 95%at 40℃in the water environ-ment.The research findings can provide references for the crack resistance design of hydraulic asphalt concrete.
