The identification and evaluation of hazards is the core of safety management in water conservancy and hy-dropower projects, but most water conservancy engineering construction enterprises still use the traditional LEC method for hazard source assessment.Due to the strong dependence of the LEC method on the experience of the evaluators, the use of this method cannot accurately evaluate the hazards. In view of the shortcomings of the LEC method,by introdu-cing the control factor to replace the severity index, and setting the probability of danger based on the objective con-struction environment and the safety awareness of construction personnel,an improved LEC method was proposed, and then the FTA method was introduced to optimize the risk degree parameter, and the improved LEC-FTA method was obtained.Taking the mechanical and electrical installation project of a certain section of the Pearl River Delta Water Resources Allocation Project as an example, the improved LEC-FTA method was used to evaluate and calculate the hazards in the mechanical and electrical installation accidents, and the results showed that the evaluation results of the improved LEC-FTA method could take into account the danger degree of the hazard source and its importance in the ac-cident project, which was consistent with the actual situation.
