To explore the impact runoff changing of river by human activities on ecological base flow, the trend, abrupt change and persistence characteristics of runoff were analyzed using Mann-Kendall,R/S test and cumulative anomaly method with indexes of concentration degree and non-uniformity coefficient by monthly runoff monitoring data from 1965 to 2020 in the Yinghe River source region. The influence of runoff change on ecological base flow guarantee in source area was analyzed by the control value of base flow in the section. The results showed that annual runoff in the source area was not significantly reduced, and the annual distribution was unimodal, mainly concentrated in flood season. The correlation coefficient between concentration degree and non-uniformity coefficient was 0.9460,and the change trend was generally the same, both of them showed a significant reduction trend, and Hurst index were greater than 0.5,in-dicating that the annual uneven distribution of runoff would be improved in the region.Due to human activities, there was a sudden change for runoff in 1990 in the source area, and both the annual and monthly runoff Hurst indices were greater than 0.5,indicating that the runoff would decrease in the future. The sudden change and decrease for runoff would lead to the increase of the months when the ecological base flow couldn't be guaranteed, even cut-off.There-fore,in the development and utilization of river water resources, moderation should be maintained, while opening up sources and reducing flow, avoiding encroachment on the ecological base flow of the river, and ensuring the ecological security of the watershed.
