Facing the prevailing situation of Buddhism,Li Gou,a thinker in the Northern Song Dynasty,took a stern stand and firmly argued against Buddhism.He should be regarded as one who argued against Buddhism in the revival movement of Confucianism in the Song Dynasty,not one who supported Buddhism.He should be re-garded as a Confucian,not a Buddha who advocated Confucianism on the surface but actually worshiped Bud-dhism,and his anti-Buddhism had distinct personal characteristics and characteristics of the Times.From the point of view of the carrier of anti-Buddhism,he not only wrote a special thesis against Buddhism,but also used the status of scholar of Confucianism to find a new way to argue against Buddhism with"Buddhism record".From the perspective of the thought of anti-Buddhism,he continued the tradition of anti-Buddhism and triumphed over Buddhism with propriety and righteousness,opening two major anti-Buddhism veins with both the longitudinal his-torical tradition and the realistic propriety and righteousness.That is called"cross opening".From the point of view of the content and form of anti-Buddhism,he clearly distinguished Confucianism and united Taoism to fight against Buddhism.He opposed Buddhism from the perspective of social development and people's life,backed up by the application of the world as a thought,and took Confucian politics as an anti-Buddhism strategy,deeply ex-posed the drawbacks of Buddhism,and resorted to realpolitik,showing the great use of human relations in socie-ty.In a word,Li Gou opened his way to oppose Buddhism with his own characteristics while maintaining the es-sence of Confucianism.In today's coexistence of cultural conflicts and exchanges,a comprehensive reflection on Li Gou's anti-Buddhism thought is of great enlightening significance for establishing cultural self-confidence and standing up cultural consciousness.
