Recent Developments in Analytical Techniques for Fentanyl and Its Analogues Based on Mass Spectrometry
The abuse of novel psychoactive substances(NPS)has emerged as a prominent global public health concern,with fentanyl-like compounds gaining attention and regulatory focus as a novel type of drug.Mass spectrometry technology can provide accurate and efficient qualitative and quantitative detection of fentanyl-like compounds in various matrices.This article compiles and reviews recent targeted and non-targeted research advancements in fentanyl-like compounds using mass spectrometry.It outlines different sample pre-processing steps for fentanyl-like compounds in mass spectrometry analysis,emphasizing the characteristics of in-situ ionization mass spectrometry,liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry,gas chromatography-mass spectrometry,and other technologies for detecting these compounds.Additionally,it introduces the advantages of mass spectrometry non-targeted analysis techniques in predicting and classifying the structures of novel fentanyl-like compounds,contributing to a better understanding and control of fentanyl-related substances.
