从《喜福会》看中西面子观

摘要
结合东西方面子理论，通过对小说《喜福会》中母亲和女儿的具体分析，发现母亲们坚守东方的面子观，而女儿们则选择西方的面子观。东方的面子观包括“脸”和“面子”两个概念，具有道德和能力两个层面的内涵；西方的面子观包括正面面子和负面面子。
Abstract
Through the specific analysis of the novel The Joy Luck Club , we found that the east face view includes two con-cepts:the "face"and "facework", whose connotations have two levels of morality and ability;the western concept of face falls into positive and negative face.It is found that mothers hold the eastern face view , while daughters choose Western concept of face .
