As a local armed force rising in Anhui in the late Qing Dynasty,the Huai Army had a strong regional color.The"Huai Army"rose in the Jianghuai region,and its name was closely related to the"Huaihe River".Its formation and development,military resources,battalion system,and spiritual characteristics were all affected by the social culture of the Huaihe River basin.At the time of the rise of the Huai Army,the invasion of the Boxers Army and the frequent floods and droughts in the Huaihe River forced the people in northern Anhui to change when they were poor,which promoted the rise of the Huai Army.The composition of Huai Army battalions,the source of generals,and the purport of joining the army,to a certain extent,highlight the eclectic spirit of Huaihe River regional culture they are rooted in.After the Huai Army helped Shanghai,the Huai Army broke through the traditional military regulations and gradually turned to westernization.On the one hand,it was affected by the current situation at home and abroad at that time.On the other hand,it was inseparable from the cultural gene of innovation in the Huaihe River basin and the humble and pragmatic concept of Huai Army generals.
