Chinese Path to Modernization and the Future of Confucian Culture
Since modern times,there has been a debate on the relationship between Confucian culture and modernization.One viewpoint thinks that Confucian culture cannot adapt to the modernization needs;Another viewpoint holds that Confucian culture itself contains modernity genes,and only by inheriting and reviving Confucian culture can we solve the practical problems in China and even the world.After the separation of theory and practice between socialism and capitalism,there also emerged a divergence between"Confucian capitalism"and"Confucian socialism".However,Confucian socialism's understanding of socialism,Confucian culture,and their interrelationships,as well as the future development of Confucian culture in China,are fundamentally different from those of socialism with Chinese characteristics.In the process of promoting national rejuvenation with Chinese path to modernization,the rejuvenation of Chinese culture is inevitable.But the revival of Chinese culture is based on the development of material production,guided by Marxism,and includes the flourishing of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics,including excellent traditional Chinese culture.It cannot be simply the revival of Confucian culture.
