The issue of depopulation in rural areas severely restricts sustainable development,Therefore, analyzing the characteristics and influencing factors of depopulation in rural areas is of great significance for the implementation of rural revitalization strategies.Based on six years of panel data from 2016 to 2021 in Anhui Province, this paper measures and analyzes the level of depopulation in rural areas of the 16 prefecture-level cities in Anhui Province. From a micro perspective,it explores the current situation and developmental features of depopulation in rural areas under the background of rural revitalization strategies, and uses a stepwise linear regression method to analyze the influencing factors of depopulation. The results indicate that:1)Currently,the degree of hollowing out of rural population in Anhui Province is increasing year by year, and regional differences are obvious, with significant regional differences and a spatial-temporal pattern of high in the north and low in the south.2)The value added of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries, grain production, the number of rural schools, per capital disposable income of rural residents, and the urban-rural income ratio are the main factors influencing depopulation. In the future, promoting the integration of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries, advancing the integration of urban and rural education, and improving the income of rural residents are the key measures to govern depopulation in rural areas.
