Multimodal Metonymy and the Construction of China's National Image——A Case Study of Animated Promotional Video"The Belt and Road,Beijing Sets Out Again"
With the advent of the era of visual culture,metonymy is not only reflected in language,but also in other communicative modes such as images,colors,sounds,expressions,and actions.Taking the animated promotional video"The Belt and Road,Beijing Sets Out Again"launched by CCTV as an example,this article analyzes the types of multimodal metonymy in this promotional video and explores how to make full use of various modes on the basis of the cognitive mechanism of multimodal metonymy to construct China's national image and achieve the dynamic construction of multimodal cognition.The study found that the promotional video mainly reflects the multimodal metonymy mechanism between the whole and the part through the comprehensive use of image modality,language modality,and action modality,and successfully constructs China's national image as"daring to explore and innovate,peaceful development,openness and inclusiveness,mutual benefit and win-win,fearlessness of difficulties,responsibility,and international responsibility."
