《沉重的翅膀》英译本的情感再现与重构——基于LIWC与ChatGPT的分析

摘要
情感分析能够对文本的情感特征进行客观描写,因此也成为挖掘译本情感重构特点的有效手段.本文基于自建"《沉重的翅膀》英译本语料库",借助情感分析工具LIWC-22和大语言模型ChatGPT,以郑子云、田守诚、叶知秋、郑圆圆四位主要人物为切入点,从词汇和语句粒度分析戴乃迭译本与葛浩文译本的情感特征差异,并探讨两位译者再现与重构源语文本情感的方式.研究发现,两个译本情感词汇占比均高于一般的故事性语言.戴乃迭译本情感词汇分布更为密集,以再现原文基本情感为主,并通过省译程度副词、删减环境描写、原级替代比较级等策略予以一定程度的削弱;而葛浩文译本情感词汇分布更为均衡,且大量保留原文中的意象、修辞手法、句式结构,以在情感上更忠实于原文.
Abstract
Sentiment analysis is capable of objectively describing emotional features of a given text,which makes it an effective tool to characterize the reconstruction of emotions in translated works.Based on the self-built"Corpus of the English Versions of Chenzhong de Chibang",this paper employs sentimental analysis tool LIWC-22 and the large language model ChatGPT to analyze the differences in emotional features between Leaden Wings translated by Gladys Yang and Heavy Wings translated by Howard Goldblatt at the lexical and sentence level,with a major focus on characters Zheng Ziyun,Tian Shoucheng,Ye Zhiqiu,and Zheng Yuanyuan.It further explores the ways in which the two translators represent and reconstruct emotions of the source text.The study finds that the proportion of emotional words in both translations is higher than that of story language in general.The distribution of emotional words is more condensed in Leaden Wings for representing the basic emotions of the original text and weakening them to some extent through strategies such as omitting adverbs of degree,deleting environmental descriptions,and replacing comparative degree with positive degree.However,the distribution of emotional words in Heavy Wings is more balanced in that most of its source text's imageries,rhetorical techniques and sentence structure are retained so the translation is more faithful to the emotional content of the original.
