基于语料库的白亚仁译者风格分析——以余华小说英译本为例

摘要
本文基于白亚仁英译余华作品的自建汉英平行语料库考察其译者风格,有四个研究发现:一是白亚仁所译五部余华作品的英译本在语言参数,如标准类符/形符比、平均词长、语篇逻辑连接词等方面均具有一致性,体现了其译者风格的稳定性;二是其语言呈现出简洁质朴的文体风格;三是其英译本具有英语原创作品的句法特点,行文简洁凝练;四是在感叹句和问句的使用数量上,译作远远多于原作,说明他偏好增加感叹号、问号及各类叹词,以显化小说人物的情感语气,从而形成其独特的句法风格.本研究认为,白亚仁的译作之所以深受好评,与其独特的译者风格密不可分,可为中国文学英译提供参考与借鉴.
Abstract
Based on the self-built Chinese-English parallel corpus of Allan H.Barr's translations of Yu Hua's works,this paper presents four findings.First,the five English translations of Yu Hua's works by Barr are consistent in terms of language parameters,such as standardized type-token ratio,average word length and discourse logical relation words,which reflect the stability of his translator style.Second,linguistic features of Barr's translation are concise and plain.Third,Barr's English translation exhibits the syntactic characteristics of original English works with a concise style.Fourth,the number of exclamatory sentences and interrogative sentences used in his translations is far more than that in the originals,indicating that Barr prefers to add exclamation marks,question marks and interjections to express emotional tones of characters in the novel,which characterizes Barr's unique syntactic style.This study believes that Barr's translations are well received,which is closely related to his unique translator style.His translations can serve as a reference for Chinese literary translation.
