英汉学术文本连接词使用及其翻译研究——基于"而""和""但""因此"及其英译的分析

摘要
本研究基于自建语料库,采用数据对比与案例分析相结合的方法对排名靠前的连接词"而""和""但""因此"及其英译本进行分析比较,探索差异原因,旨在提高中华学术英译的接受效度.研究发现,部分连接词为兼类词,可做增补关系,也可做转折或因果关系,译者在处理该类词时未忠实地传递原文意旨;部分连接词虽正确传递了原文意旨,但语用不规范、不得体,使用位置与英文母语者有出入,过于口语化的词语在英译本使用频率高,与正式文体不匹配.基于上述结果,本文提出了中华学术连接词英译的一些规范性译法.
Abstract
Based on the self-built corpus,this study deploys data comparison and case analysis to analyze and compare the top-ranked conjunctions"Er","He","Dan","Yinci"and their English translations,so as to explore causes of the differences and improve the acceptance validity of Chinese academic English translation.It is found that some of the conjunctions are polysemous words,which can be used as additive,adversative or causal relations.The translator did not faithfully convey the original meaning when dealing with such words.Although the translation of some linking words correctly conveys the original meaning,their pragmatics is not standardized and appropriate,and their positions are different from those used by native English speakers;colloquial words are used frequently in the English translation,which doesn't match the formal style.Based on the above results,this paper discusses some normative translations methods for Chinese academic conjunctions into English.
