文学典籍《九歌·山鬼》植物术语英译探研

摘要
《楚辞》汇集屈原等人作品而成书,含《离骚》《九歌》《天问》等篇章,内容具有以"香草香木"比忠贞贤良,以"恶草恶木"喻阴险狡诈的特色.研究表明,《楚辞》全文涉及植物种类共99种,确定植物身份并准确表达是英文翻译难点,其中《九歌·山鬼》涉及植物术语种类丰富,且包含多种有争议的植物.本文以《九歌·山鬼》的不同英译版本为研究对象,通过梳理相关资料考证植物身份,并对比分析翻译方法,以期为古代典籍中植物术语英译提供借鉴,启发对外传播中国传统文化的有效路径的思考.
Abstract
As the anthology of poetry written by Qu Yuan and the other ancient Chinese poets,the Songs of Chu includes works like Li Sao,Jiu Ge and Tian Wen.The usage of metaphor related to plants is common and frequent in this book,specifically,the fragrant plants for loyalty and righteousness,and the smelly for treacherousness.According to previous studies,there are totally 99 kinds of plants in the Songs of Chu,bringing great difficulty to the verification and translation of the plant terms.Jiu Ge:Shan Gui involves a variety of the plant terms,notably several controversy terms.Based on different versions of the English translations of Jiu Ge:Shan Gui and relevant materials,the paper makes a study on the identification and translation of the plant terms in Jiu Ge:Shan Gui and it is hoped to provide references for the English translation of the plant terms in the ancient classics,so as to contribute to the spread of traditional Chinese culture.
