Research status of lithofacies assemblage types classification of continental fine-grained sedimentary rocks and their hydrocarbon geological significance
Fine-grained sedimentary rocks are important hydrocarbon source rocks and reservoirs for continental shale oil and gas. However, this type of rock is characterized by variety of lithofacies and complex vertical superposition, and it is known that most of the sweet spots corresponding to high-producing oil and gas wells are usually combinations of multiple lithofacies. At present, there are still differences in the lithofacies classification schemes of fine-grained sedimentary rocks, and the research related to lithofacies assemblage is still in the preliminary stage.Through comparing the differences in lithofacies classification schemes of continental fine-grained sedimentary rocks by domestic scholars in recent years, the basis for the division of lithofacies assemblage is sorted out,and a new method of lithofacies assemblage classification and its significance for oil and gas geology is discussed.Based on the identification of lithofacies types,it is believed that the classification of lithofacies assemblage types and the characterization of distribution characteristics under the guidance of astronomical cycle theory are of great significance for the fine prediction of oil sweet spots in continental shales. The analysis of source-reservoir coupling characteristics, hydrocarbon distribution characteristics of different lithofacies assemblages, and related studies focusing on micro-migration are helpful to improve the understanding of the differential accumulation of shale hydrocarbon.
