The shale oil resources in the second member of the Funing Formation in the Subei Basin is an important resource replacement for the sustainable development of the old area in the Subei.Shale oil wells typically use a two-section borehole structure, with the deepest drilling of large-diameter wellbore up to 3,705.38 m.The drilling speed of large-diameter wellbores significantly impacts the drilling cycle and costs of shale oil wells. To address the challenges of accelerating the drilling of large-diameter wellbores, focusing on the goal of"increasing speed, improving quality, and reducing costs",an efficient drilling technology for large-diameter wellbores was developed. This technology includes drilling acceleration techniques, wellbore trajectory control, and high-performance drilling fluid technology. As a result, the average drilling period was reduced from 41.5 days to 10.59 days, and the average mechanical drilling speed increased from 10.42 m/h to 24.22 m/h.The overall acceleration effect for large-diameter wellbores is significant, making this efficient drilling technology applicable for subsequent shale oil platform wells.
