Using the data from several recently drilled shale oil exploration wells,we carried out a study on the organic geochemical characteristics and oil-bearing properties of source rocks in the second member of the Paleogene Funing Formation in the Huazhuang area of the Gaoyou Sag in the Subei Basin.Through the classification evaluation of organic carbon content,chloroform asphalt"A",total hydrocarbon content,and hydrocarbon generation potential(S1+S2),as well as the analysis of parameters such as kerogen macerals,vitrinite reflectance(Ro),rock pyrolysis peak temperature(Tmax),normal paraffin distribution,and biomarker composition,etc.In general,the abundance of organic matter reaches the standard of good-quality hydrocarbon source rock.The organic matter types are mainly Type I,Type II1,and Type II2,and the organic matter types become better from the bottom to the top.The maturity of organic matter reaches the stage of maturity and high maturity in general.Two methods(free oil content method and oil saturation index method)are used to evaluate the oil content of the hydrocarbon source rock of the second member of the Funing Formation in the Huazhuang area,and it is considered that the oil content reaches the standard of Class I or Class II,and it has a great potential for exploration.The results of this study will play a guiding role in the selection of geological desserts for the next shale oil exploration in Gaoyou Sag.
