The H24-16 well in the Jiangsu Oilfield faces challenges such as weak energy of the sand body, thin reservoir, low permeability, and ineffective water injection. The flexible multi-branch sidetracking horizontal well technology focuses all the advances of window cutting, deflection, and drilling on the target reservoir, thereby maximizing branch length and reservoir contact area.To exploit the remaining oil in the thin and poor layers of this well, flexible drilling tools,a stacked directional drilling tool, and a specialized fishing spear were developed, and a branch wellbore trajectory was designed and combined with wellbore trajectory control, successfully completing the flexible multi-branch sidetracking horizontal drilling of the H24-16 well. This achievement marks the first successful drilling of two branch horizontal wellbores in the same reservoir in Jiangsu Oilfield, which provides valuable experience for efficiently sidetracking and tapping into remaining oil reserves and is of significant potential for wider application.
