Chinese path to modernization is a historical process,a form of development,a theo-retical model and a methodology.Corresponding to the process of Chinese path to modernization,the criminal procedure system in the PRC is embedded in social transformation,resonating with and mir-roring the Chinese modernization of the rule of law.From proclaiming the principle status of the peo-ple in criminal procedure,to establishing its constitutional principles and completing the institutional-ization,from adapting to the reform of the system of socialist market economy,to acclimatizing to the reform of respecting and safeguarding human rights,and to adjusting to the modernization of govern-ance system and capacity,the criminal procedure system of the PRC increasingly reveals its Chinese characteristics and modern style.It has not only gradually developed its depth through historical prac-tice,highlighting the socialist attributes of the criminal procedure system,adhering to the values and methodology of seeking truth from facts,and upholding the dialectical unity of criminal procedure concepts,continuously shaping the Chinese model of criminal procedure,but also will actively re-spond to the needs of the Chinese path to modernization in the future.In the future,the criminal pro-cedure system of the PRC will need to focus on harmonizing the relations between"tradition"and"modernity","characteristics"and"rules","local"and"world","trial and error"and"con-struction","technology"and"system",and"text"and"practice",so that they can present a more mature,complete,modern,and unique prospect,and continue to shape the Chinese wisdom,experience and contribution to the modernization of the criminal procedure.
