The expression levels of GATA4 and CTNNB1 in brain glioma tissues and their relationship with clinical features and prognosis of patients
Objective To investigate the expression levels of GATA binding protein 4(GATA4)and cadherin-associated protein(CTNNB1)in brain gliomas and their relationship with clinical features and prognosis of patients. Methods 98 patients with glioma who were admitted to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University from January 2018 to December 2020 were selected as the research subjects. The glioma tissue specimens before treatment were included in the glioma tissue group(n=98),and the corre-sponding adjacent tissue specimens were included in the adjacent tissue group(n=98).Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of GATA4 and CTNNB1 in tissues. The aim was to analyze the relationship between the expression of GATA4 and CTNNB1 and the pathological characteristics of glioma patients.Multi-variate Cox regression analysis was used to explore the influencing factors of patient prognosis. Results The positive expression rates of GATA4 and CTNNB1 in the glioma tissue group were higher than those in the adja-cent tissue group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The positive expression rates of GATA4 and CTNNB1 in glioma patients with a KPS score<70,tumor diameter>2 cm,lymph node metasta-sis,and WHO grade Ⅲ~Ⅳ were higher than those with a KPS score≥70,tumor diameter≤2 cm,no lymph node metastasis, and WHO grade Ⅰ~Ⅱ,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).98 patients with glioma were followed up continuously for 3 years after discharge, and 42 patients survived, with an over-all survival rate of 42.86%(42/98).The 3-year overall survival rate of patients with a KPS≥70 score, tumor diameter≤2 cm,no lymph node metastasis,WHO grade ⅠtoⅡ,GATA4 negative, and CTNNB1 negative was higher than that of patients with a KPS<70 score, tumor diameter>2 cm,lymph node metastasis,WHO grade Ⅲ to Ⅳ,GATA4 positive, and CTNNB1 positive, respectively, and the difference was statistically sig-nificant(P<0.05).KPS score<70,WHO grade Ⅲ~Ⅳ,GATA4 positive,CTNNB1 positive were identified as prognostic factors for glioma patients(P<0.05).Conclusion GATA4 and CTNNB1 are predominantly ex-pressed in glioma tissue. They are associated with the clinical characteristics and prognosis of glioma patients, and may serve as biological markers forevaluating the prognosis of glioma patients.
