Clinical observation of PO2 and PCO2 in Eight Diagrams Eye Acupuncture on the mini-mally consciousness state after stroke
Objective To observe the changes of oxygen part pressure(PO2)and carbon dioxide part pressure(PCO2)after the treatment of minimally consciousness state(MCS)after stroke. Methods From September 2022 to June 2023,60 patients with minimal consciousness after a stroke were admitted to the Acupuncture and Moxibustion Rehabilitation Department of the Second Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medi-cine in Guangdong Province. They were divided into two groups:the conventional acupuncture group(n=30)and the Eight Diagrams Eye Acupuncture group(n=30)using a random number table. The conventional acu-puncture group received basic treatment, rehabilitation training and acupuncture treatment.the Eight Diagrams Eye Acupuncture group received treatment using the Eight Diagrams Eye Acupuncture method for a duration of 2 weeks. Before and after treatment, blood gas analysis(arterial blood),Coma Recovery Scale-Revised(CRS-R)scores,and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)levels were recorded. Results After treatment, the PO2 level of patients in the Eight Diagrams Eye Acupuncture group was significantly higher than that in the conventional acupuncture group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The PCO2 level of pa-tients in the Eight Diagrams Eye Acupuncture group was significantly lower than that in the conventional acupunc-ture group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the CRS-R score of patients in the Eight Diagrams Eye Acupuncture group was significantly higher than that in the conventional acupuncture group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in hs CRP levels between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Eight Diagrams Eye Acupuncture demonstrates a significant clinical effect in treating MCS after a stroke by increasing PO2 levels and decreasing PCO2 levels.
