Relationship between the changes of VCAM-1,BMP-2 and IL-6 levels and the prolonged healing of ulna and radius fractures in children
Objective To investigate the relationship between the changes of serum vascular cell adhesion molecule-1(VCAM-1),bone morphogenetic protein-2(BMP-2)and interleukin-6(IL-6)levels and the prolonged healing of ulna and radius fractures in children. Methods A total of 152 children with ulna and radius fractures admitted to Zhengzhou Children's Hospital of Henan Children's Hospital from May 2020 to July 2023 were selected as the research subjects.Based on the fracture healing progress, they were divided into two groups:a control group with normal healing and an observation group with abnormal healing. The levels of VCAM-1,BMP-2,and IL-6 in serum were compared between the two groups at 1 week,4 weeks,8 weeks,1 month,4 months, and 6 months after the fracture occurred. An ROC curve was constructed to assess the predictive value of single and combined detection of VCAM-1,BMP-2,and IL-6 in predicting prolonged healing of ulnar and radial fractures in children. Results There was no significant difference in gender, age, fracture type and cause of injury between the two groups(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the levels of VCAM-1,BMP-2,and IL-6 between the two groups at 1 week after fracture(P>0.05).When com-paring the two groups at 4 weeks,8 weeks,1 month,4 months, and 6 months after the operation, the levels of VCAM-1 and IL-6 in the observation group were higher, and the level of BMP-2 was lower, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).According to the ROC curve, the sensitivity and specificity of the com-bined detection of VCAM-1,BMP-2,and IL-6 in the prolonged healing of ulnar and radial fractures in chil-dren were 91.22%and 86.73%,respectively,and AUC:0.915,which was significantly higher than that of single detection(P<0.05).Conclusion The levels of serum VCAM-1,BMP-2,and IL-6 are closely related to the prolonged healing of ulna and radius fractures in children. The combined detection of these three indica-tors is expected to become an effective monitoring method to help doctors understand the progress of healing, adjust treatment and promote the smooth healing of fractures.
