Application of decitabine combined with half-dose HAG in elderly patients with acute myeloid leukemia
Objective To explore the effects of the combination of decitabine and half dose HAG chemotherapy regimen on serum levels of basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF),cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2),vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),and immune function in elderly patients with acute myeloid leukemia.Methods Eighty elderly patients with acute myeloid leukemia were admitted to Jinzhai People's Hospital from January 2021 to January 2024.They were randomly divided into two groups:group A(40 cases received HAG chemotherapy)and group B(40 cases received decitabine combined with half-dose HAG che-motherapy).Both groups underwent treatment for 7 days,and the therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared after this period.The levels of serum COX-2,bFGF and VEGF,and the levels of CD4+,CD3+,CD8+,white blood cells(WBC),platelets(PLT)and red blood cells(RBC)and CD4+/CD8+in whole blood were compared before and after 7 days of treatment.Results After 7 days of treatment,the total effective rate in group B was higher than that in group A,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Com-pared to before treatment,the serum levels of bFGF,VEGF,and COX-2 in both groups decreased after 7 days of treatment,with levels in group B were lower than those in group A(P<0.05).Furthermore,the levels of CD3+,CD4+,and CD4+/CD8+in whole blood increased after 7 days of treatment in both groups,with the in-crease in group B being higher than in group A(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the level of CD8+between the two groups before and after treatment(P>0.05).Additionally,after 7 days of treatment,the level of whole blood WBC in both groups decreased,with group B showing a lower level than group A(P<0.05).Conversely,the levels of whole blood PLT and RBC in both groups increased,with group B hav-ing higher levels than group A(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of decitabine and half-dose HAG che-motherapy can significantly reduce the serum levels of COX-2,bFGF,and VEGF in elderly patients with acute myeloid leukemia.This treatment effectively improves the immune function and blood routine indexes,leading to a positive therapeutic outcome.
