Research advances on detection methods for Group B streptococcus
Group B Streptococcus is a type of bacteria that can infect the genital tract of newborns and women,particularly pregnant and postpartum women.GBS is classified into 10 different serotypes(Ⅰa,Ⅰb and Ⅱ-Ⅸ),with type Ia being more common in women of childbearing age and typeⅢ being the most virulent serotype.Accurate detection and identification of GBS in pregnant and postpartum women is clinically significant.In this review,we summarize the different detection methods,principles and research progress of GBS,and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each detection method in order to provide a reference for selecting the best detection method for GBS in clinical practice.
