Can Digital Transformation Improve the Total Factor Productivity of Agribusiness?
Based on the micro data of China's A-share listed agribusiness from 2007 to 2020,this paper empirically analyzes the impact of digital transformation on total factor productivity of agribusiness and its mechanism. The research shows that digital transformation is conducive to improving the total factor productivity of agribusiness. The mechanism test shows that digital transformation can improve the total factor productivity of agribusiness by improving the utilization rate of funds, reducing the excess employment rate and increasing R&D investment. The adjustment test shows that the uncertainty of business environment and the intensification of industry competition will reduce the effect of digital transformation on the promotion of total factor productivity of agribusiness. The scale heterogeneity test shows that digital transformation has a more significant effect on the improvement of total factor productivity of small-scale agribusiness, agribusiness in the growth and maturity stages,state-owned agribusiness, and agribusiness with two separate positions. Therefore, this paper argues that the government and other subjects should improve the construction of digital infrastructure, create a good business environment and market competition order, and optimize the external environment of digital transformation of agribusiness. At the same time, agribusiness should scientifically arrange capital, technology, labor and other resources according to their own development facts, and choose the appropriate path of digital transformation.
