Empowering Low-Carbon Consumption with Digital Technology:Theoretical Mechanism and Promoting Strategies
Digital technology is an important engine for promoting low-carbon transformation in industries, providing a new breakthrough for continuously releasing consumption dividends and promoting energy conservation and carbon reduction in the consumption sector. On the one hand, digital technology empowers supply side low-carbon transformation through low-carbon product production,low-carbon logistics and transportation, and low-carbon energy resource utilization;on the other hand, digital technology promotes demand side low-carbon transformation by promoting the formation of public awareness of green and low-carbon consumption, strengthening consumer awareness of carbon reduction, and so on.At the same time, digital technology promotes low-carbon market trading processes, helps the government effectively implement energy-saving and emission reduction policies, and achieves organic coupling and collaborative carbon reduction between supply and demand. However, the current empowerment of low-carbon consumption by digital technology still faces some problems, particularly manifested as:the carbon footprint management system for products and services is not yet perfect, the logistics industry lacks top-level design for low-carbon transformation, the effective supply of low-carbon products is insufficient, the low-carbon consumption potential of the sinking market is not fully tapped, the carbon inclusive mechanism has not fully played an incentive role, and the public's low-carbon consumption concept and behavioral ability are not strong. To promote the empowerment of low-carbon consumption through digital technology, efforts should be made in the following aspects:accelerating the construction of low-carbon consumption related certification systems, promoting the construction of related infrastructure such as digital transportation and digital consumption, launching market-oriented incentive measures such as carbon financial products, and accelerating the formation of low-carbon consumption concepts and atmosphere in the whole society.
