Embedding China's Productive Service Industry into the Global Value Chain:Influencing Factors,Practical Challenges, and Strategic Choices
In the era of economic globalization, countries around the world are increasingly emphasizing the strengthening of their value chain integration on a global scale and enhancing the international competitiveness of their industries. In the process of embedding into the global value chain,China's manufacturing industry has achieved significant results, but the productive service industry, which is an important support for manufacturing upgrading,is clearly insufficient.Actively integrating the productive service industry into economic globalization and enhancing its position in the global value chain is an important means to promote high-quality economic development and enhance international competitiveness. The integration of productive service industries into the global value chain and their position in the global value chain are influenced by multiple factors such as digital technology, institutional environment, openness to the outside world, industrial structure, and export product quality. The overall integration of China's productive service industry into the global value chain is still relatively backward, mostly at the middle and low ends of the global value chain. The degree of technological improvement of productive service industry enterprises is limited, the competitiveness of service trade is weak, and the degree of openness of productive service industry is limited. The benign mutual promotion between productive service industry and advanced manufacturing industry under the framework of the global value chain still needs to be strengthened. To change this situation, efforts must be made to enhance the position of the productive service industry in the domestic value chain, strengthen the independent innovation capability of enterprises, leverage the empowering role of the digital economy, actively and orderly expand the opening-up of the productive service industry, and promote the coordinated development of the productive service industry and advanced manufacturing industry.
