Base on a solid abdominal masonry arch bridge in Yunnan province,this paper proposes to use corrugated steel plate to widen and transform the masonry arch bridge.By using numerical simulation method,considering the interaction between masonry of stone arch circle and various bridge materials,a fine finite element model is established which accords with the reality.The bearing capacity of the bridge before and after widening is analyzed,and the variation rule of the mechanical behavior of the stone arch ring of the original arch bridge widened by corrugated steel plate for masonry arch bridge is studied.At the same time,the influence of the diameter of connecting steel bar,the elastic modulus of the soil and the thickness of the corrugated steel plate on the widening effect of the bridge is discussed.The results show that both the before and after arch bridge widen with corrugated steel structure can meet the requirements of bearing capacity.At the same time,after the corrugated steel plate is used to widen the masonry arch bridge,part of the earth weight on the corrugated steel plate arch ring will be transferred to the original stone arch ring,increasing the stress and deformation of the original arch ring.The elastic modulus of backfill soil in corrugated steel plate has more influence on the effect of the proposed widening scheme than the diameter of embedded steel bar and the thickness of corrugated steel plate.
