As an important part of the traffic line of life,it is of great significance to ensure the safety of bridge operation. The long-term seismic performance of the viscous damper system install to improve the seismic capacity of bridge is greatly affected by durability, and there is a phenomenon of premature failure.Using the statistical comparison method, the working states of damper of different structural types of bridges were analyzed, and the main factors that may cause the premature failure of the damper and affect the durability of the damper were studied. The results show that frequent and long-lasting traffic load and wind load are the main external causes of premature seal failure of the damper, and the cumulative superposition effect of them will accelerate the fatigue failure process.Taking into account the shock absorption requirements of the bridge and the structural bearing capacity, the more dampers are installed, the greater the design output force, and the more favorable it is to the long-term working stability and durability of the damper.
