Sensitivity Analysis of Several Design Parameters for Diagonal Arch Bridges with Planar Cables
The cables of diagonal arch bridges with planar cables are arranged at one end in the arch crown area of the arch rib,and at the other end on the centerline of the main beam, all cable are located within one plane. This novel design of diagonal arch bridges with planar cables not only ensures a clear force distribution on the archbeam structure, but also presents a clean and beautiful appearance with good visibility for vehicle driving. In order to investigate the influence of design parameter values on the structural static characteristics of the diagonal arch bridge, this paper takes a diagonal arch bridges with planar cables in zhongshan city as the engineering background.By establishing a spatial rod finite element model, the sensitivity of three design parameters, including arch rib stiffness, anchor point spacing under the cables, and the angle between the horizontal projection of arch axis and the centerline of the main beam,is analyzed. The research results indicate that under moving loads, changes in arch rib stiffness have a significant impact on the internal force and deformation of the arch, while their impact on the mid span bending moment and deflection of the main beam is relatively low.And the increase in the spacing between anchor points under the cables leads to a decrease in the internal force of the arch, while the mid span bending moment of the main beam increases. The variation of the angle between the horizontal projection of the arch axis and the centerline of the main beam within the range of 15° to 27° has insignificant effect on the internal force and deformation of arch and the main beam. The results obtained in this study provide useful references for the preliminary design of similar bridges.
