Application of Roller Density Gauge in Asphalt Pavement Compaction Assessment
In order to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the compaction test method using roller density gauge and to verify its reliability and accuracy, this study selected a 300-meter section of the bridge deck and subgrade AC-20C intermidiate layer for testing. The test results were compared with those obtained from the core drilling method and the non-nuclear density gauge method. The results indicated that there are a certain deviation between the roller density gauge and the non-nuclear density gauge in both the subgrade section and bridge section, but the overall deviation is less than 3%.The test results from the roller density gauge and non-nuclear density gauge exhibit good correlation in subgrade section, although there is a certain deviation in bridge section.Compared with the core drilling method and the non-nuclear density gauge method, the roller density gauge can continuously detect the compaction degree of the asphalt pavement, reducing damage to the asphalt pavement, improving detection efficiency, and expanding detection range.
